FC Porto VS Farense Match Preview 10 May 2021

With the title race all but over in the Portuguese League, can Porto make a miraculous comeback and pip Sporting to the finish line? They will do their best to spoil things for their bitter rivals, and start off with a win against Farense.

Porto have been on a near-perfect run, bar their last two draws, and are sitting comfortably in second - 8 points behind leaders Sporting. They had a chance to leapfrog them, but failed, and now must do everything in their power to finish the season with a spotless record, and hope Sporting tumbles somewhere in the next three games. Coach Sergio Conceicao will hope his troops will show they’ll definitely cause trouble, if not now then next season, and establish themselves as the team to beat once again. 

Farense on the other hand are stuck in the bottom part of the table, sitting second from last with 28 points in 31 games, with just three points getting them out of the relegation zone. If they stand a chance at staying the premier Portuguese flight, they’ll need to win here and hope for beneficial results elsewhere. Head coach Sergio Vieira will look to his troops to make a final push and make a break from what seems like doom and gloom for both fans and players alike.

Farense have a clean bill of health as well as no suspensions, while Porto will have to do without the services of Mbaye, who’s injured, and without Sergio Oliveira, who’ll miss the game through suspension (yellow card accumulation).
