Granada VS Real Madrid Match Preview 13 May 2021

With Barcelona all but out of the title race after drawing two games in a row, the only other team left that can pip Atleti to the title is their bitter rivals - Real Madrid. Real travel to Granada tonight in a bid to put pressure for the final two fixtures of the La Liga.

Granada come into the game in mixed form, having lost three and drawn two in their last five in the league. While conservative in attack, their backline has been far too leaky, and have conceded at least a goal in all of their last five fixtures. Coach Diego Martinez will hope his troops can cause another upset here (they defeated Barcelona at the Camp Nou 2-1 a fortnight ago) and maybe even climb up the table to spots that lead into Europe!

Real Madrid on the other hand are struggling with internal turmoil, as the club have underperformed in both the league and cups. Inconsistency in their last 5 fixtures have cost them 6 points - points which would’ve put them in pole position to win the title. Head coach Zinedine Zidane will hope his bitter rivals stumble in their next game, and produce the heist of the decade and pip them to the title. Their next fixtures are far more challenging than this one, so this one gets the must-win etiquette.

Injuries have decimated both squads this season, and there will be a fair amount of players missing this game as well. Diaz, Kenedy, Lozano, Milla, Neva, and Vallejo are all out for Granada. While Real Madrid will be without Carvajal, Lucas, Marcelo, Mendy, Ramos, and Varane. Odriozola is a doubt for Los Blancos, pending a medical.
