Guardiola had to explain his strange decision 23 February 2023

Guardiola had to explain his strange decision: I am such a good manager; I can put nine strikers in the second leg!

Manchester City looked to have things under control away to Germany until conceding a goal and Red Bull Leipzig leveling at 1-1.

"Citizens" deservedly took the lead in the first half with the goal of Riyad Mahrez, but 20 minutes before the end they conceded a goal and the finish was not long enough to reach the desired second goal.

The English champion tried to apply pressure, so even though he was chasing a result and a second goal in the opponent's net, Pep Guardiola decided on a strange decision not to make changes.

Guardiola had to explain his strange decision: I am such a good manager, I can put nine strikers in the second leg!

The likes of Phil Fowden and Julián Alvarez remained on the bench, so it was no surprise that Guardiola was asked about the pending changes when facing the press.

– The rule says that I have the opportunity to make five changes, but I am the manager and I can apply the rule as I want. Just because we have five substitutions doesn't mean I have to use them all. I am such a good manager and I know what to do and what not to do.
