Poland vs Russia Friendly Preview 01 June 2021

Great chance to set the right form.

This June will be a fourth UEFA Euro tournament appearance for Poland's national team, and the twelfth appearance for the Russian national team.

Poland's national team, so far, is struggling to find the right form in their defensive line up. In their last 5 games they only managed to keep a clean sheet against Andorra in their home win (3:0). So in order to avoid lack of confidence in the big Euro tournament this summer, they must find the right form that will bring solid results. This definitely means that manager Paulo Sousa will try different players and different tactics in this friendly game. This will help him find the right positioning for players on both ends of the field, which he will then use at the Euros.

The Russians have similar problems in their roster. They have proven goalscorers in their ranks, but their problem in terms of collecting points lies in their inconsistent defensive line-up. In the match against Serbia, they lost with a score of 5:0, and in the last ten games, they only managed to keep a clean sheet in two matches, 0:0 against Moldova, and 0:0 against Hungary. So, head coach Stanislav Cherchesov must find his defensive lineup that will perform much better than thus far, before the Russians enter into the UEFA Euro competition.

So, tonight is a good chance for both teams to show what they’re made of on the football field and to get in the best shape possible - both mentally and physically - before they enter the group stage in the Euros. Poland's best eleven is going to play in Group E against Slovakia, Spain, and Sweden. And Russia’s first team is going to play in Group B against Belgium, Denmark, and Finland.
