Roma vs Manchester United Match Preview 06 May 2021

The second semi-final decider is set to be played out at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Man United carry a healthy 6-2 lead from the first game, which means the Romans will have a gargantuan task ahead of them.

AS Roma, are currently going through a very bad patch of form, having lost four of their last five in all competitions, and have won only two in their last 10, having lost five and drawn two. This dire run must end ASAP, and whether coach Paulo Fonseca can motivate his squad to push through and win by a four goal difference seems unlikely, they have pulled off the impossible before, and they might do it again tonight. They have the quality, they have the mentality, let’s just see if it’s their night.

Manchester United on the other hand are flying high, they’ve lost just once in their last twenty, winning thirteen. It seems manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made his squad gel nicely, and the results on the pitch speak for themselves. They got an unintended rest this last weekend with the fiasco with the fans invading Old Trafford, and might have an added impetus. This tie is theirs to lose, and a weakened team might be on the cards, but that can be too much of a risk for them.

The injury situation at both clubs is very different. Roma have a long list of absentees which include: Calafiori, El Shaarawy, Kumbulla, Lopez, Pedro, Spinazzola, Veretout, and Zaniolo. The Red Devils will have to do without the services of James and Martial.
