Fulham VS Burnley Match Preview 10 May 2021

A fight at the bottom of the EPL table might not be the glamour and sparks one would expect, but this is a direct battle for the last place that can guarantee Premier League football for next season. At Craven Cottage, we have Fulham in their last-gasp attempt to ensure potential survival.

Fulham need a miracle, since this doesn’t get them into safety, but gives them a chance to overlap Burnley should they win their remaining three games, and Burnley loses all of them. Manager Scott Parker will hope he trunks his first crack at coaching into a miracle, as things haven’t really gone Fulham’s way ever since he sat in the hot seat. Currently, their form is almost as bad as it can be, having drawn one and lost the other four in their last EPL encounters. A run of three wins in three games seems like mission impossible, but we’ve seen bigger miracles this season, so don’t write them off just yet.

Burnley are also struggling this season, and find themselves looking down the barrel of the relegation gun, but a win here ensures Premier League football for next season. Suffices to say that this is a must-win for the Clarets. Head coach Sean Dyche will hope an inspired display here, like the one against Wolves a fortnight ago, is on the cards here. With just one win in their last five (W1 L4), things don’t look good for Burnley, but considering Fulham seem to be doing worse than them, a win is not as unthinkable as one might expect.

Injuries and suspensions to players at both clubs have played somewhat a role in their fates this season, and they will do in this game as well. Fulham will be without Kongolo for this game, while long-term absentee Cairney might make the bench or even start. Reed is also a doubt. The Clarets will be without Brady and Long, but have no other suspended or injured players.
