Manchester United VS AS Roma Match Preview 29 April 2021

Two great sides clash in the semi-final of this year’s Europa League, as Man United entertains AS Roma at Old Trafford. Both teams will look to make it to the final and potentially finish the season with a piece of silverware, and a place in next year’s UCL campaign.

Manchester United come into this game in good shape, they’ve lost only one game in their last twenty in all competitions, and given their proven record against Roma and other Italian opposition, many consider them to be favorites. They’re also the favorites to win the competition, and considering how strong they’ve entered the knock-out phase, expect them to go attacking from kick-off. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hope the problems at the back four won’t be an issue here, as they’ve been all season long, costing them many points.

The Romans come into the game in dreadful form, with just three wins in their last ten in all competitions, and their trip to England couldn’t come at a worse time. Or better? Roma are a team with a pedigree in Europe and can turn the style up in games, as they did against Barcelona a few years back. Coach Paulo Fonseca will hope this game can bring out the best in his troops, as he seeks a UCL place through a Europa League win, considering they’re 7th in Serie A.

As things stand, both teams will have a few players out for the game, with United having to do without long-term absentees Martial and Jones, while Roma will be without Calafiori, Mancini, Pedro, and Zaniolo.
