Matic on the comparisons between Serbia and Croatia: You cannot compare a Torino player with Modric

The former Serbian national team player Nemanja Matic caused a lot of reactions in neighboring Serbia, after he expressed his opinion through the media about the constant comparisons between the Serbian and Croatian national teams.

Unlike Croatia, Serbia failed at the last World Cup, and Matic believes that his compatriots have too high and unrealistic expectations.

- We Serbs are putting pressure, but we have no basis for such a thing.

- I said earlier that you can't compare Serbia and Croatia, because at that time we had only three footballers at the top level, and they were Rakitic, Modric, Kovacic, Perisic and Mandzukic - all in big clubs.

– We had only two players in a big club, all the others played in average teams. No one who plays in Turin can handle the pressure as well as one Luka Modric. Serbia must reduce the tension before the big competitions, Matic believes.
