Moreirense VS FC Porto Match Preview 26 April 2021

As the Portuguese League is nearing its end, we get a new crucial game on our hands. Porto are going to Moreirense in their last-gasp attempt to try and get closer to Sporting Lisbon, and maybe even pip them to the title! Let’s see the facts behind the game.

Moreirense are currently 8th in the league, and are in a mixed run of form. They have managed to muster 35 points from 28 games, and while the position seems comfortable, keep in mind that only 7 points separate them from ending up in the relegation zone! Their home form might be a cause for concern as they’ve drawn four and lost one in their last five at home, and their record against Porto is also dire.

Porto on the other hand are in the form of their life as they’ve managed to win their last 7 games in the league, four of them on the road. With a win here, they can cut the gap between leaders Sporting and them to just four points. That will make the title run in all the bit more interesting, as Sporting are on hand to finally break the Porto-Benfica duopoly which stretches back twenty years!

Both teams have had bad luck with injuries this season, and this game will see some players miss out because of them. Moreirense will have to do without Amador, Lacerda, Mane, Pedro, and Pires, while Porto will not have Marcano and Mbaye, whereas Sanusi is a doubt with a muscle injury.

A game without a lot of recognition, but it can be the game that will give us an interesting finish to the season! Both teams have a lot to play for, so expect both teams to fight tooth and nail for the win!
