SC Braga vs Moreirense Game Preview 14 May 2021

As we enter in the penultimate fixture of this season in the Portuguese Primeira League, we have confirmed Europa League candidate SC Braga going head to head against a potential EL candidate - Moreirense.

SC Braga are having somewhat of a mixed season, but have done good overall. They’re currently 4th, with a comfortable and unreachable lead of 10 points to 5th placed Ferreira. Coach Carlos Carvarhal and his troops fought long and hard to ensure European football for next season, but now they have to ensure they make a strong finish to the season. In their last five, Braga has won just once, drawing two and losing two, so it’s fair to say their form has slumped a bit. They had among the best home records in the league, and should have it in them to see out Moreirense. History and statistics are on their side, but betting they’d win this game is risky. Why? Read below.

Moreirense have had somewhat of a slump in their last few games, as they drew a lot of them, and are leaders in the league by the number of games they drew. Overall, they’re in a good position, sitting in 7th with 40 points together with Santa Clara and Belenenses. A win here would mean they have a realistic chance of climbing into 6th, and potentially catching the train to Europe for next season! Coach Vasco Seabra will hope his troops can muster out a win against the favorites and hosts, and keep their European dream alive.

Injuries have dogged both sides throughout the season, and there are players that will miss the clash. Medeiros and Moura are out for Braga, while Moreirense will be without the services of Amador, Lacerda, and Pedro.

Will Moreirense cause an upset and maybe push for European football, or will Braga establish their credentials for next season and maybe even try to break into the eternal top three which is currently occupied by Sporting, Porto, and Benfica? Tune in to see the game
