The Netherlands vs Scotland Friendly Preview 02 June 2021

Two teams looking to get into tip-top shape ahead of the Euros, which is set to start in just over a week from today. The Dutch and the Scots will go head to head to try out some of their contingency plans, new tactics, and figure out the best positioning for players.

Oranje ended the qualifications for Euro 2020 in second place in Group C, and with the current squad presenting a perfect mix of experience and tenacity, they are sure to have a strong showing. In their last five games, they’ve done admirably, showing exactly why they should be considered as one of the most dangerous teams to face. Two wins, three draws, but taking into consideration the fixture congestion and the physical demands of this season, it’s more than what any team would ask for. As things stand, the game is for the Dutch to win or lose.

The Scottish National Team has an exciting crop of talent, all plying their trade in some of the best leagues around Europe. The Euro 2021 tournament will be the perfect chance for them to show if the hype surrounding their team is justified or not. But now, they have the Dutch to worry about, and this is the perfect chance for them to reach full fitness, perfect their tactics and positioning, and even put the Dutch to the sword! Manager Steve Clarke will need to try and find his best team and formation, because in the last 5 games, the Scots managed to win just 1, losing the other 4.

No suspensions, of course, but there are two players that’ll miss this game through injury, both from the Dutch team. Virgil van Dijk (ACL) and Jesper Cillessen (COVID) are out of this clash.
